Ada Mark Strausberg | Aging Gracefully | Challenges | Daily Life | Nostalgia | Poetry | Tough Lessons
“Oy Vey” is Something I Often Say
I see the docs more than my friends
Many early reaching their ends
I’m just trying to keep aging at bay
Oy vey is something I often say
Does this ever happen to you?
Getting down’s followed by, “Whew!”
Getting up’s preceded by a grunt
This simple action is now a stunt
Isn’t aging a natural thing?
Oh, why must it be so tiring?
Getting here has been a chore
It’s tough to be a dinosaur
How come when one slows down
Life speeds up all around?
Wasn’t I young just yesterday?
There are other words I could say
Mother taught me not to use them
But she’s not here… so there!
