How Many Poems?

Share our stories on social media:

How many poems, I wonder
have I written through the years?
Some, I know, have brought a smile
others, perhaps a tear.

I wrote about the day we met.
You were the brightest in the room.
I wrote about the Kitchen Dance.
Even then you made me swoon.

I wrote about the Orioles
on Sunday afternoons
even when the team would lose
our love was still in bloom.

Our trips to Arizona,
which we no longer take,
a highlight of our younger years.
Of this, there’s no mistake.

I wrote about our getting older.
It’s become a bigger part.
The most important thing for me:
You’ll always have my heart.
