To My Dearest Bruce,
It seems as if 50 years flew by.
Who can ever explain why?
We’ve been married for 50 years:
smiles and laughter, sprinkled with tears.
We met one night at “The Other Place.”
I recognized you, seeing your face!
Having met many years before
at a mixer on the dance floor.
A small night club in the neighborhood
that ended up being oh so good.
We left for ice cream across the street
at Howard Johnson’s for a sweet treat!
I gave you the number of my phone
as I did not like being alone.
You said you loved me on our third date.
Right then and there, it sealed our fate.
Our engagement came five months later.
Nothing could have ever been greater!
May 30th is our wedding date.
Fifty years being each other’s mate.
It’s been the best 50 years of my life
when I said I do and became your wife.
Our children came after four years.
It was then we cried happy tears!
I graduated from U of B
in the year 1983.
You earned your Master Plumbing Degree
that same year of ’83.
Time kept marching on very fast.
Many things were now in the past.
Allie graduated from college
where she gained so much knowledge.
Then she earned her Master’s Degree
on our dime, it wasn’t free!
Barry studied for his plumbing test.
He passed because he did his best.
Years kept flying by so fast.
We wanted each milestone to last.
Then Allie married her husband, Dave.
So happy he joined our family enclave.
A few years later, our grands were here.
No one or nothing could be more dear.
Several years later our son, Barry
found Melissa. They chose to marry.
Our family now is full and complete.
Fifty years of marriage: beyond sweet!
All my love,
Mar
