Eclipse

They talked about the solar eclipse.
It’s been all over the news,
but when the time for it had come,
I was taking an afternoon snooze.

It doesn’t matter anyway,
as I don’t have the special glasses;
but it might have been a lot of fun
if I were still teaching classes.

I was going to watch it on the news,
but, accidentally, I took a nap.
My days are long and oh so busy.
I fall asleep in a snap!

Perhaps the next one I’ll be able to see.
Of course, my life may be done!
But of all the things I worry about,
really, this just isn’t one!
