Winter Weather Woes

Winter came suddenly
and blew me away
I blew back and said,
“Please, GO AWAY!”

Then the wind blew the snow
swept it up to and fro,
a beautiful dance
while the ice froze below

And where is the Sun
on this cold winter’s day?
Did it freeze like the ice?
Is it hidden away?

“It is mighty cold,” said the Sun,
“but no, never
I never shall freeze
not ever forever”

“It’s my job to bring warmth,
my job to bring light
I won’t let you down
that wouldn’t be right”

So the Sun warmed the Earth
melted ice, snow and trees
The wind blew away
and I, was quite pleased
