Softball and Baseball
My husband, Bruce, and I received an e-mail on September 12th from our daughter, Allison, that read as follows:
“Piper has a softball game Saturday, September 19th at 12 noon and Ryder has a baseball game at 2 p.m., if you and Dad want to watch. Just need the camping chairs! And maybe lunch! The address is 3233 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg, MD 21048.”
My reply was, “Yes, Dad and I will be there. We will pack our lunch and bring lawn chairs. Thanks. Love, Mom”
Her reply was, “Yayyy!!!”
We joined Allie, and all of us had a wonderful time watching Piper play softball. The girls are all adorable, between the ages of nine and 10 years old. Piper’s team wore bright red T-shirts that said, “Finksburg Lady Lions Softball,” accompanied by black pants and red socks.
Also joining us a little later were Aunt Sharon and Uncle Pat who happened to be in from California. This is Bruce’s sister and her husband.
Our son-in-law, Dave, and Piper’s brother, Ryder, stayed home until it was time for his baseball game. Both parents thought it would be too long a day for him to sit through her game and then play in his game.
We all had a great time screaming, “Go Piper!” or “Hit the ball, Piper!” or “Run to the base, Piper!”
Ryder came in plenty of time for his baseball game. We also hollered when he was up at bat or in the field waiting to catch the ball.
His uniform consisted of a red T-shirt that said, “Finksburg Baseball,” with gray pants and red socks. We also cheered, “Go Ryder” or “Stay in the outfield” or “Great game, Ryder!”
Our family sat in the warm sun wearing hats and sunglasses while we watched both games, ate lunch and had a wonderful family sports day.
We plan to watch many more games, activities and recitals for our grandchildren, precious Piper and rambunctious Ryder.
