Sleepy Time?

IF I didn’t have to sleep,
I could stay up all night and play,
but I don’t like the dark, so
I’d have to figure out a way,

to make the light last longer,
the dark to take less time
PLEASE
especially in the winter
when it’s cold
and I could freeze.

But what if I get tired,
then I’ll have to get some sleep
and lately it’s not so easy, cause
I toss and turn and weep.

If you’re a mighty good sleeper,
(which I’m not)
I’d say that you were blessed
And I’m hoping you’ll give me the secret
to a very very good night’s rest

Don’t ask me why
I’m still here awake
when the night is all askew,
and mommy and daddy
are sleeping
And the whole world
is dark and blue

Don’t ask me why
I do not know
I’m still so little
But I want to grow
