Python PowerPoint Presentation

I ran the Charm City Reptile and Amphibian Rescue for 14 years (no longer in operation).

I received an application from a family looking to adopt a ball python. They wanted to convince the dad to get a snake. The mom and two sons put together a PowerPoint presentation to win him over.

I asked if they would send a copy of the document and they did. The best statement was that snakes “are wicked cool.” Of course, most people already know that!

The gist of the PowerPoint was what species of snake to adopt: corn snake, kingsnake, milk snake or ball python? In the end, they chose a ball python.

The mother had a boatload of questions about the ball pythons we had available. Among them were: How big will it get? What does it eat? How long will it live? How do we know if it’s male/female?

Finally, they decided on one of them. Then it took another 10 minutes to decide which size tank to buy. More decisions were made about hide boxes (to give the snake a safe haven when it sleeps) and water bowls. Finally, after about an hour, all decisions were made, and the paperwork was completed.

It’s very refreshing to see people who actually did their homework. These adopters thought really long and hard about what type of snake to get and whether a snake was even a good choice for a pet. Seeing as they had already adopted a three-legged deaf pit bull, I knew the people had generous hearts.
