Best Neighbor Ever
Dear Dante,
What did we do to deserve
a neighbor nice as you?
The many times you helped Stuart out
when he was feeling blue.
Your kindness when you aided him
to get up off the floor
and back into his wheelchair.
Who could ask for anything more?
You kept a diligent eye on us
when Stuart was really frail.
I felt so sad and truly lost.
You were our dependable male.
That time you helped Stuart up the stairs-
not an easy task.
Really, he was a sheer dead weight,
but your strength was truly vast.
I know you orchestrated
the plant the neighbors bought.
It’s thriving in the family room
and brings me pleasant thoughts.
Then you scraped the awful icy snow
from my car and from the driveway.
I have no clue what I would do
If I had to do it my way!
You’ve been a wonderful neighbor,
a true friend to Stuart and me.
I wish you Merry Christmas
and the gift of Love under your tree.
