Poet’s Day

Share our stories on social media:

Just a ditty from New York City

Tomorrow is Poet’s Day*
So I shall rhyme what I say

Who knew? A day for everything
Fear not, I’ll just write, not sing

“You’re a poet. Do you know it?
I can tell; your feet show it
They’re Longfellows
That smell like the Dickens”**

So on this day, be HAPPY!
Write something sappy, snappy
Even if it’s a bit crappy

Just have lots and loads of fun
Let your imagination run
Wild and free with a goad from me

As you can easily see
Meter doesn’t matter to me
As the Beatles sing, “Let It Be”

*Holidays Calendar, August 21

**Something my mother told me when I inadvertently said something that rhymed.
