“Act right”
Morning, noon and night
But it’s not right for me

“Act right”
But I want to take flight–
So much I want to do

“Act right”
But I want to reach each height
Even if they don’t want me to

“Act right”
But it’s a constant fight
It’s not my conviction

“Act right”
Maybe I won’t for spite
And then what happens?

“Act right”
For those who are white
But that’s not my standard

“Act right”
But it does bite
For me, the bitten

“Act right”
Always in my ear and sight
To act as I am told

“Act right”
Do you know the slight
These two small words bring?

“Act right”
Will it always be my plight
Will the command ever change?

“Act right”
Will we ever see the light?
And will we ALL act right?
